Meet Popeye

Popeye is a sweet, 3-year-old orange tabby who has already overcome incredible odds. He was rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation where food was scarce and medical care was nonexistent. When he arrived at our shelter, Popeye was battling a severe eye infection that required emergency surgery. Thanks to generous supporters like you, Popeye pulled through—and has been thriving but how he is facing another challenge, advanced dental disease, stomatitis.

But Now He Needs Your Help Again

Years of neglect and poor nutrition have taken a toll. Stomatitis is a painful, chronic inflammation that affects his entire mouth. Popeye's teeth are decaying, his gums are ulcerated, and he's living in constant pain. Eating is a struggle, and even the simplest acts—like grooming or yawning—bring him agony. This disease left untreated will only worsens, leading to malnutrition, a weakened immune system, and further health decline.

Popeye was scheduled to go for surgery later this year but his surgery was moved up due to the pain that he has been experiencing. He went for his dental surgery on Tuesday, May 13 and is now recovering. This was the only effective way to relieve his suffering and give him a chance at a pain-free, happy life. Without it, his condition would continue to deteriorate—and he doesn’t deserve to suffer another day.
